Anita Whitlock

Author • Storyteller • Guest Speaker

As a retired English teacher, author, and lifelong lover of stories, I enjoy sharing the memories, history, faith, and family traditions that inspired Lots of Love, Grandma Coker. My speaking programs are warm, conversational, and filled with real stories, treasured photographs, old family letters, and a little Southern humor along the way.

Speaking Programs

Programs can be tailored to fit your organization and available time.

Preserving Your Family Story

You don’t have to be a professional writer to preserve your family history. I share simple, practical ideas for turning photographs, letters, recipes, keepsakes, and memories into something your family can treasure for generations.

Letters from the Smoky Mountains

Step back into the early 1940s through the letters my grandparents exchanged while my grandfather worked in the Smoky Mountains. Their words offer a glimpse into family life, love, work, hardship, and everyday Southern life during another time.

Faith, Family & Southern Memories

A collection of heartfelt stories inspired by Lots of Love, Grandma Coker, celebrating family, faith, traditions, and the little moments that become some of our most treasured memories.

Speaking Experience

I have had the pleasure of sharing my stories with historical groups, civic organizations, community clubs, and other gatherings. One of the greatest joys of speaking is what happens afterward—when someone comes up and says, “That reminds me of my grandmother,” or begins telling me a family story of their own.

Recent appearances have included the Cullman County Historical Society, local community and civic groups, author events, and other organizations throughout the area.

Invite Me to Speak

I would love to visit your church, senior adult group, historical society, civic organization, book club, women’s group, community organization, or special event.

Programs can be adjusted for the size and needs of your group, and I am happy to discuss a topic that would be especially meaningful to your audience.

Every family has a story. Sometimes all it takes is one person to begin telling it.
